When you spray Nasonex nasal spray into your nose, the medication is absorbed through the membranes in your nose where it travels to the site of inflammation. It then works to reduce swelling and irritation. This can help relieve symptoms such as sneezing, congestion, and itchy eyes. Nasonex nasal spray may also help to improve your breathing if you have allergies that affect your lungs. It starts to work within minutes and can last up to 12 hours.

Directions

  • Nasonex nasal spray should be administered twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening.
  • It is important to shake the Nasonex nasal spray bottle well before each use.
  • Remove the cap and hold the bottle upright.
  • Point the spout away from your face and close one nostril with your finger.
  • Tilt your head forward slightly and exhale through your mouth.
  • Insert the spout into your other nostril and press down firmly on the pump to release the spray.
  • Breathe in deeply through your nose. Hold your breath for a few seconds, then breathe out slowly.
  • Repeat these steps in the other nostril and wipe off any excess medicine from your nose with a tissue.
